Folk Factory Instruments is a music ensemble dedicated to exploring folk music, tunes, songs and dance from around the world in a fun and friendly way. We learn by ear, write and arrange our own pieces and do lots of performances, in Sheffield and much further afield! No grades needed, open to any instruments, but basic knowledge of your instrument is required. Instruments not provided- we do have a keyboard and a piano.

Folk Factory Dance is an opportunity to learn a variety of dance traditions from around the country, including rapper, longsword dancing, clog, and northwest morris. No prior experience needed.

Taster sessions are free, so come and try a session before signing up for the term!

Snacks provided each week!

At Folk Factory we pride ourselves on being an open and inclusive community, creating a place and part for everyone, regardless of experience. The ensemble is led by the ideas and needs of the young musicians, so youth voice is very important to us! Come along to develop your musicianship and confidence, in a fun and creative ensemble. Our aim is to connect and engage young people with their folk heritage in lively and relevant ways, learning traditional tunes and creating new ones. We have created quite a community over the years, and many of our young people meet up to play outside of the ensemble, forming their own sessions, jams, ceilidhs and bands, or just to hang out and have fun. The young musicians can also benefit from the contacts and support we can offer if they wish to pursue folk music further.
