If you want to get stuck into folk with other people, Folk Factory have junior, youth and senior groups to explore folk music, songs and dance from various traditions in a relaxed, and often fairly silly, way. No need to read music and whatever your level, there will always be a part you can play. We write and arrange our own pieces and do lots of performances, in Sheffield and beyond.
Are you looking for a safe space to explore folk singing, playing or dancing with other new or more experienced adults? Join one of our groups at your level - they're all very supportive and you'll never be put on the spot. There's no need to read music or have any experience of folk.
This summer we are holding the first ever Youth Folk Festival in Sheffield. It will be programmed by our young people, and jam-packed with workshops, dance-outs, ceilidhs, and performances. Different cultural groups from across the city will take part, and we are hoping to record a CD of our Folk Factory favourites.
Such grand plans require lots of money so we’re asking for your help. We have got some funding but still need to raise £3000. If you're able to make a donation we'll be eternally grateful.
