Folk Factory Seniors is a new ensemble aimed at our older and more advanced young musicians. For those at GCSE and A level standard, this weekly group will explore tunes and songs in much more detail, looking at arranging in smaller groups, writing music, and most importantly will be guided by what our older students want to learn. There will be opportunities to cover things that we don’t do in the other Folk Factory groups, like how to use a P.A, how to play for a ceilidh, and how to book gigs, for example. There is currently limited availability for this group, and is invite only (for now).

At Folk Factory we pride ourselves on being an open and inclusive community, creating a place and part for everyone, regardless of experience. The ensemble is led by the ideas and needs of the young musicians, so youth voice is very important to us! Come along to develop your musicianship and confidence, in a fun and creative ensemble. Our aim is to connect and engage young people with their folk heritage in lively and relevant ways, learning traditional tunes and creating new ones. We have created quite a community over the years, and many of our young people meet up to play outside of the ensemble, forming their own sessions, jams, ceilidhs and bands, or just to hang out and have fun. The young musicians can also benefit from the contacts and support we can offer if they wish to pursue folk music further.
