The introductory group is for musicians to develop the skills and confidence needed to join our more established later group. If you've never played any traditional music or haven't tried learning by ear, this is a great place to get started. We learn tunes from lots of different traditions and styles and the focus is on building confidence. No grades needed, open to any instruments, but basic knowledge of your instrument is required.
The later group gives instrumental musicians the chance to learn new repertoire at a faster pace, challenge themselves with different techniques, and have fun playing and performing together.

Tutor: Rosie Butler-Hall

Rosie Butler-Hall is the tutor for the instrumental side of Forge & Fledge. She has a wealth of experience as a performer, appearing at festivals across the UK with The Rosie Hood Band. She is also part of The English Fiddle Ensemble, a four piece quartet of fiddle players bringing joyus harmonies and striking rhythms to traditional English Tunes. She is an experienced tutor, also having worked at Halsway Manor with The Halsway Young Folk, and at the English Fiddle Weekend.

At Soundpost we pride ourselves on being an open and inclusive community, creating a place and part for everyone, regardless of experience. The ensemble is led by the ideas and needs of the musicians, so your voice is very important to us! Come along to develop your musicianship and confidence, in a fun and creative ensemble. We have created quite a community over the years, and many people meet up to play outside of the ensemble, forming their own sessions, jams, ceilidhs and bands, or just to hang out and have fun.
